The match

The handball players who participate on the PC, are well trained. They are selected from the Main League and First League of the Royal Dutch Handball Association (KNKB), in which leagues the top teams meet weekly. The best 16 teams are selected for the match. The teams, each consisting of 3 players, are composed by the players themselves. A number of players have become legendary because they have won the match more than one time or became

even more than one time king of the PC (see: Winners 1854-2000 and Eternal Classification). In this perspective one should know that, it lasted more than 140 years until a team succeeded in winning the match 3 times successively. Handball is a very fast game, that is varying with 'death moments'. A handball player needs therefore, besides strength, skill, athletic abilities and insight, have the disposal of abilities to concentrate and social capabilities. Moreover, the only 'weapon' of a handball player is a special glove, while the game is played on a rather large playing field.
