What is the pc

The PC day

The entourage and rituals show that the PC-day originates from earlier eras, with customs in olden times. The PC-day begins exactly at 8:00 o'clock, when the president of the Permanent Committee starts with his speech (Frisian language), that lasts nearly 45 minutes. About 9:00 o'clock the ride to the tilting-ground starts and about 9:30 the match will begin.

8:00 o'clock Reception
Festal commemoration gathering, accessible for everyone, in the theatre Koornbeurs (opened from 6:30) in Franeker. Here the PC-day begins, memories to heroes and events in olden times are evoked, but also topics of the day come up.

About 9:00 o'clock short ride trough the centre of the town
The ruling king of the PC and his both team-fellows, the referee and the Permanent Committee are transferred to the tilting-ground (the ground is called 'Sjūkelān') in open carriages.

About 9:15 o'clock arrival
The ruling king of the PC renounces the kings ball at the Sjūkelān, when he is handling it over to the president of the Permanent Committee. After this the president will, visible for everyone, hang the kings ball in the PC-arbour.

9:30 o'clock PC handball match
After the opening ceremony the first two opening games start. The final is mostly played about 17:00 o'clock, depending on the progress of the match.

Proclamation of the new king of the PC
As soon as the final has finished the price-giving begins, which ends with the proclamation of the new king of the PC by the president of Permanent Committee. After this the PC day has come to an end and the public is leaving the tilting-ground.
